Inconsistency Assertions 3624 or Error Message 7987 in Sql Server

SQL Server errors are not hostages of only the complex operations, but while the normal and usual operations like SELECT and UPDATE are attempted; several error messages may also be seen. The error messages, as mentioned below, indicate that the SQL database is suffering from some sort of inconsistencies, but, at the ultimate resort, can make you feel need of SQL repair. However, there are few assertion error messages, which may indicate inconsistencies in the database, such as: Msg 3624 Location: recbase.cpp:SQLServerVersion Expression: m_offBeginVar 0 && m_SizeRec <= MAXDATAROW SPID: ProcessID Process ID: SQLServerEXEProcessID Research shows that when the SQL Server application tries to read data from the data page, the mentioned assertions may be observed, during which an error log file is created which records the corresponding information. Now, as there were no clear indicatives about what has caused the error to occur, SQL 2000 Service Pack 4 has changed the scene in which the problematic assertions appeared. Now, these problems come in the form of the following error message: Error: 7987, Severity: 22, State: 1 A possible database consistency problem has been detected on database ‘’. DBCC CHECKDB and DBCC CHECKCATALOG should be run on database ‘’. Thus, as the stated error messages are occurring and some inconsistencies exist in the database, you need to have MDF repair by running the DBCC CHECKDB command and resolving the reported issues. However, if you come at the stage, when removal of errors is being hard and you have no database access due to the corruption, use third party SQL recovery applications and correct the issue. MDF recovery software is a tool to scan, repair and restore the corrupted SQL database in the original view and content. They offer a definite SQL repair help in all the database corruption scenarios. For best cure, choose best help. Stellar Phoenix SQL Recovery uses the most powerful scanning algorithms and repairs them effectively. With Phoenix SQL recovery treatment, you would find an interactive interface to work with and a consistent MDF repair mechanism. This MDF recovery application is found to be compatible with SQL Server 2000 and 2005.

How to be the Assertive Manager your Employees Want to Produce Results For: Management Skill Training Tips for Effective Communication

As a manager, by definition you are in the middle. You’re the glue. A manager who doesn’t manage is worse than no manager at all. Your employees need you to lead and manage or get out of their way.

Did you know that exceptional managers are the main reason good employees stay where they are, and bad managers are the main reason good employees leave? Author Marcus Buckingham tells us people don’t quit their jobs – they quit bad managers. They quit managers who don’t recognize their contributions. They quit managers who ignore slacker coworkers. They quit managers who don’t provide clear direction. In other words, they quit managers who don’t manage and lead assertively.

That’s why your words are so important. As a manager your words matter more to your employees than anyone else’s. However, if you’re like most leaders (and like me), you’ve delayed hot button conversations because you didn’t know what to say or you didn’t want to rock the boat. And (like me) you’ve probably also initiated hot button conversations with reckless abandon and later regretted your words.

Here are some management skill training tips to help you be the assertive manager your employees want to produce results for.1. Establish your role from the beginningDon’t: be afraid to be the boss. When you take charge, don’t assume everyone will automatically fall into their roles. Why not: In the beginning, employees aren’t sure about your authority, and neither are you. It’s easier to set the tone up front than to change the tone afterward. Do: conduct a new supervisor interview and put your best foot forward. Take the initiative to set boundaries and define roles from the outset. PowerPhrases: What to Say: “I need your help, support and feedback on my new role as your manager.” “Now that I’m your manager, our roles will change. Do you have concerns about that?”Poison Phrases: What not to say: We’re all friends here. It will work out fine.2. Hold people accountable for expected resultsDon’t: indulge slackers. Why not: It’s unfair to the good performers who are doing their jobs – and often picking up the slack. It encourages slacking from everyone.Do: clarify expectations and document and address problems as they arise. PowerPhrases: What to Say: “Your job requires that you… Instead you are… Here’s why I need you to meet expectations.”Poison Phrases: What not to say: Oh well, it’ll get done. It always does.3. Create a system to consistently acknowledge good employee performanceDon’t: leave acknowledgement to chance or dismiss good work as an expected part of the job.Why not: Behavior that gets rewarded gets repeated. Behavior that is ignored drops off. If you don’t have a system to acknowledge employees, it probably won’t happen and you’ll lose a performance enhancement opportunity.Do: set reminders or other systems to ensure you let employees know exactly what they do that you appreciate and how it affects you in a positive way.PowerPhrases: What to Say: “I love your attention to detail in how you… That’s important because…” “…was a powerful initiative because…” Poison Phrases: What not to say:that’s what they get paid for.4. Be clear in delegation and providing directions

Don’t: assume understanding.

Why not: There are too many variables in every project to assume anything.Do: specify deadlines, budget, specs, authority and follow-up. PowerPhrases: What to Say: “I need …by (when) to the following specs. Make your own decisions about X but please forward questions to me about Y. “Poison Phrases: What not to say: I don’t know what I want, but I’ll know it when I see it.

.5. Tie each employee responsibility into the bigger picture of company mission, vision and department goalsDon’t: treat individual tasks as mundane. Why not: mundane tasks don’t motivate. Activities that are a part of a bigger mission do.Do: remind employees continually about why you’re there and how their achievements help move the mission forward.PowerPhrases: What to Say: “This list you completed is a good step forward toward our mission of…” Poison Phrases: o you made a list. That’s what we pay you for.6. Apply prepared assertive management phrases and leadership phrases for every step of the management process including:

The new supervisor interview

Building strong managers and leaders

How to coach employees

Meeting facilitation

Announcing change

Motivation

Providing positive feedback

Providing negative feedback

Performance review phrases

Termination

This article offers dos, don’ts, PowerPhrases and Poison Phrases for five management conversations. In the course of your management career you’ll need to initiate conversations for hundreds of employee conversations. Let the experience of others guide you. The management process is a communication process. It’s not enough to be right. It’s not enough to know what you’re doing. It’s essential that to have to words to successfully manage your employees and to be the assertive manager your employees want you to be.

Dog Training – Training Assertive Dogs

As descendants from wolf packs, dogs have and seek a natural hierarchy in which some are dominant (alphas) and others follow. Struggles among young pups to sort of who is which start early, in some cases three weeks after birth.
Apart from human society, wild dogs will fight – sometimes to the death – to maintain or achieve the alpha status. Losers are occasionally expelled from the pack entirely.
But in any human-dog pair the human has to take the leader role. The alternative is property destruction, human frustration and usually a maladjusted dog. Naturally, that’s sometimes easier said than done.
Pups display early in life the tendency to want to lead or acceptance of a subsidiary role. For those who insist on being alpha, several techniques can help adjust the dog’s behavior. But first you have to identify it.
Put the pup on its back with a firm hand placed in the middle of the chest. No need to press hard, just enough to keep the dog from wiggling away. Monitor the strength and length of time the dog takes to submit, signaled by pulled back paws, averted eyes, and general relaxing.
Most individuals will struggle at the unfamiliar position and submissive role. The strength of the struggle and the length to relaxation will vary from breed to breed – Golden Retrievers may submit relatively quickly, where terriers may never stop struggling.
Dogs learn by cue and repetition so to assist curing excessive assertiveness lean your face close to the dog’s and growl, bark or even shout when required. Don’t expect completely satisfactory results the first few times, but gradually most will learn to accept their secondary role.
Variations have the person stand or kneel in front of the dog, then lift it at the chest using one or two hands. Most dogs, especially dominant ones, dislike this but they quickly learn who the boss is. Alternatively, grasp both front paws and lift up. Don’t be too aggressive. The goal is to encourage acceptance of their role, not to punish.
For dogs inclined to leap up on people, there are several useful techniques. First, attempt to tell the difference between dominance and the desire for affection. Many dogs leap up on you so that they can get closer to your human face. Dogs want to be at your height so their eyes are at your level. Eye contact and rubbing your face with theirs is used by them to encourage bonding and establish social roles. They may just be trying to ‘tell’ you something. Kneel down and allow non-biters to get close to your face.
Keep enough eye contact to establish dominance by waiting for them to look away. Do your best not to blink. When the dog accepts its role, praise lavishly with ear rubs and leaning your forehead into the dog’s head. Keep your head held higher however until your role is well-established.
For those who need extra discouragement, try the following. Watch the dog’s face and body carefully for tell-tale signs signaling an imminent jump. Discourage the behavior with voice commands (’stay’ or ‘down’) and a palm thrust out and down into the dog’s face. If they’re already in mid-flight, raise a knee slightly into the dog’s chest, to keep them off and put them off-balance, NOT to pummel the dog or throw it backwards, except in emergencies.
Establishing your alpha role with them takes patience and commitment and repetition. Assertive dogs will test you throughout their lifetimes. Always be prepared to defend your role.

4 Steps to Being More Assertive

Filed under: Assertiveness — Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , — admin @ 5:04 pm September 26, 2009

45 year old Judy revealed in an anger management class that she
was constantly angry at her husband. When asked why, she
revealed that her aged mother lives next door and she always
felt conflicted whether to spend time with her husband or her
mother after work.

She loved them both, but resented her husband’s becoming
demanding and upset when she spent needed time with her mother
instead of being with him. Judy revealed that she dealt with the
situation by ignoring her husband when he expressed displeasure
- with disastrous results. These included constant bickering and
tension in the home as well as emotional distance from each
other.

How much better the outcome would have been had Judy used basic
skills of assertive communication.

What is assertive communication?

It is a way to communicate to your family your rights, feelings
and needs- but in a good way. It is a method of letting family
members know where you stand on things and what your limits and
boundaries are.

Assertive communication allows you to clarify communication and
stand up for yourself without making things worse or getting a
negative result or response from your loved ones.

Four Steps to Assertive Communication:

Step 1- Send clear messages

Turns out Judy had never clearly told her husband how she felt
when he put pressure on her to spend time with him instead of
her mother. When she did discuss it, she hemmed, hawed and
stammered with almost no eye contact.

As a result her husband was not getting a clear message. To
communicate clearly, look at your posture and your facial
expressions, as well as your hand and arm movements. Pay special
attention to your tone of voice which can say volumes beyond
your words.

Step 2 – Learn how to listen

Assertive people have developed their listening skills. While
hearing is done with your ears, true listening is done with your
heart. To be a better communicator, start by becoming a better
listener.

Step 3 – Start the conversation with “I feel” rather than “you
should.”

Words have tremendous power to determine how other people
experience us, and how they respond to an issue.

For this reason, people with good assertive communication skills
focus on the problem behavior (and not the character of the
person), stick to the point, don’t use labels, and make “I”
statements rather than “you” statements.

Judy tried this with her husband and it worked very well. Here
is what she said: “Honey, I love you and want to be with you,
but I also need to be with my mother now. Could you get along
without me for a hour a night? I’ll try to always be back by
8:30 PM.”

Step 4 – Acknowledge your part in the conflict or issue

Anger is often an escalating process, involving two people who
create a negative feeling in each other, sometimes instantly and
sometimes over a long period of time.

It is natural to blame another family member entirely for the
problem, especially when we are angry or in a defensive mode.

But, once we return to normal, the assertive communicator is
able to accept some of the responsibility for the conflict. This
acceptance and acknowledgement of your contribution to the
problem is an indication of emotional maturity and can create an
entirely different atmosphere between conflicting family members.

Try saying the following things to promote communication:

- My reactions were too extreme. I’m sorry. – Even though I
still feel I was right about the issue, my reaction wasn’t right
and I apologize. – I never thought of things that way. – Let me
start again in a different way. – I can see my part in all this.

To Judy’s delight, when she practiced saying some of these
things to her husband in a loving way, he began changing too.
Almost immediately, he became less demanding, more
understanding, and more aligned with her so both of them could
better care for her aging mother.

How Assertive are You?

Do people walk all over you? Do you often feel resentful? Have you ever said, “I give and give and give…”? If so you should evaluate your level of assertiveness. Assertiveness can be simply defined as behaviors that operate in our own interest. In other words, do you put your own interests, feelings, goals, desires, etc… in front of or behind those of other people? Ask yourself the following 7 questions:

1. When you need directions or further instruction to you ask for it?

2. When you become angry, do you express it or suppress it?

3. When you are in a class or lecture and you are unclear about the point being made, do you ask for clarification?

4. If you were having a conversation with 3 other people and all of them agreed on a topic with which you disagree, do you express your opinion?

5. Are you comfortable speaking in front of a small group engaged in discussing a topic?

6. If someone asks you to do something that you don’t want to do, do you say no or do you feel the need to make excuses or go anyway?

7. Do you make eye contact with the people you are speaking with?

Let’s examine your answers.

1. Assertive persons ask for further instruction or direction. If you feel fearful or too embarrassed to ask, these may signify a lack of assertiveness caused by low self-esteem among other factors.

2. The inability to express anger can be a sign of a “lack of assertiveness”. When we are unable to say no, we end up doing things that we don’t want to do. We often resent people for “making us do these things”. In fact, there is no one to blame but ourselves. How can you expect people to know that even though you said yes you really meant no? If you do not adequately express yourself, don’t blame others for not understanding you.

3. Again, the inability to ask for clarification signals a lack of assertiveness and possible self-esteem. It is hard to speak up and ask a question but you must remember that to put your interests ahead (I need to understand the material) of others (I don’t want anyone to ask questions) is a sign of assertiveness. Assertiveness is necessary if you wish to achieve your academic potential.

4. Our assertiveness is often measured by our willingness to “go against the grain”. Are you willing to disagree, even if the opinion is wildly unpopular?

5. Do you express your opinions? A small group would be from 8-25 persons. In this setting can you express input? If not, you need to read more about aggressiveness.

6. See # 2. In addition, ask yourself how many resentments you have. Resentment often results from one person’s inability to say no and another’s unaware response of gratitude for the action. This gratitude is often interrupted as disrespect since the person never really wanted to participate. .

7. Eye contact is extremely important in human communication. If you are unable to make or maintain eye contact, evaluate your assertiveness level.

Each of us has the responsibility of protecting our own interests. There are times in life which call for a sacrifice of those interests but it is rare. This should always be the exception and not the rule.

Are You A Mr. Assertive Or A Mr. Aggressive?

One of the most essential skills needed in handling people and situations is assertiveness. You are assertive if you are clear in letting others know about your expectations without any anxiety or hesitation. This is one area of development to be focused on when coaching executives. Many in management sectors confuse ‘assertiveness’ with ‘aggressiveness.’

What are some of the differences between assertiveness and aggressiveness?

If you are assertive you ask people of what you want directly and openly. There is an air of reassurance and confident around you at all times. While you do ask for your wants and preferences, you make sure to respect other people’s rights and you do not expect others to know what is on your mind without expressing yourself.

If you are aggressive you try to get what you want in someway or the other and you may often cause bad feelings in others. You may resort to different tactics – request, beg, entice, persuade, manipulate or threaten as your means to get what you want. In the process you do not respect other’s rights or feelings. You do not even look into situations that may get both sides what they want, such as win-win situations.

Aggressive behavior might help one to achieve immediate or short-term results but the longer outcome is a steady decline in performance due to unpopularity and non- cooperation from others who are often victims of aggressive or bullying behavior. With the result the aggressive person ends up being over stressed and depressed. Mr. Aggressive is often not supported by his colleagues and is therefore unable to reach his goals in his career.

Mr. Assertive is able to lead, direct and motivate without much of huff and puff. Since he already is clear about what he wants and is able to convince others without hurting their sentiments and feelings he is popular among employees and he gets good cooperation from his colleagues.

An assertive person is able to give unequivocal direction and leadership through his positive motivational messages to his team members. As a result he is able to achieve his goals sooner and rises up the corporate ladder easily. Body language is an important factor of assertiveness. You could keep the following in mind if you would like to develop assertiveness:

A warm smile or a friendly expression shows respect to your listener

Maintaining eye contact shows that you are actively listening to the other person

A relaxed and straight stance should be adopted during communications

Your hands should be kept in an open position to show candidness.

Assertiveness in appropriate situations is bound to win you friends and supporters in your career and in society.
